We are a small bespoke woodturning and stick dressing business based in Kildalkey Co. Meath.
Damian is the woodturner and stick dresser, creating individual pieces from mainly Irish hardwoods or hardwoods from sustainable forests. Each piece is handcrafted to bring out the beauty of the wood, finishing oils and waxes are all food safe.
Our items are both functional and decorative and range from bowls, boards, pens, clocks, walking sticks and unique wedding gifts.
We are in two shops, Castle Crafts, Trim and The Craft Shop Boyle, Roscommon. We attend monthly farmers markets in Meath, Westmeath, Dublin and Kildare. Each item is designed and handcrafted to a high standard and is unique as no two pieces are the same.

Mythology
Ash Tree
The Ash Tree was believed to possess medicinal and mystical properties, with its wood often burned to ward off evil spirits. In Viking mythology, the Ash was referred to as the ‘tree of life.’ Today, it is regarded as a healing tree.

Beech Tree
Beech is associated with femininity and is considered the queen of trees, while oak is regarded as the king. In Celtic mythology, the god Faqus was associated with Beech trees. Beech was believed to possess medicinal properties, and its leaves were used to relieve swelling. Additionally, forked beech twigs are traditionally used for divining.

Crab Apple Tree
The Crab Apple Tree has long been associated with love and marriage. According to folklore, if you throw the seeds into a fire while speaking the name of your beloved, the love is deemed true if the seeds explode.

Hazel Tree
The Hazel has reputation as a magical tree. The Hazel rod is supposed to protect against evil spirits. In Ireland Hazel is known as the tree of knowledge and in medieval times it was a symbol of fertility.
