Summer is just around the corner, and the green shoots of recovery are peeping through our landscape all over the Boyne Valley. The past 14 months have been tough for hospitality and tourism businesses here, but with restrictions starting to ease we can start planning that much needed day out in one of the many local attractions that the region has to offer. The Boyne Valley is getting ready to re-open and with that, we have created a list of tourism businesses that have announced their opening dates.
Boyne Boats are back on May 1st, on weekends throughout May and on into the Summer. Initially the Historic Boyne Canal Experience will be available at 11am, 1.30pm and 3pm. Due to limited capacity advance booking is essential. There will only be a maximum of 6 per time slot and each booking will be for just one family/group. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Our favourite Ice Cream experience will be back for 2021. The team at Causey Farm are hoping to take bookings from July onwards but watch this space for more updates.
For those with a need for speed! The team at White River Karting have announced that they will be reopening the week of April 26th for the May bank holiday weekend and the track will be available exclusively for race kart testing!
Navan adventure centre are re-opening for their May Bank Holiday Family Fun! But hurry, they are nearly sold out. We can’t wait to see what else they have in the pipeline.
Irelands favourite theme park will be opening the Tayto Park - Zoo Walk from Friday April 30th! Go Wild with Wonder on their Discovery Trail. Explore over 100 species from Amur Tigers, Amur Leopards, Ring-Tailed Lemurs and Mountain Lions to a fascinating array of Birds and Farmyard friends! Join them on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday from April 30th - May 30th 10am to 6pm! They will be operating two available time slots 10am - 2pm & 2pm - 6pm.
The good folk at Boyne Valley activities are now taking provisional bookings for Kayaking Experiences, Floating Through Time Tours and their kayaking Camps. They can’t wait to get back on our beautiful Boyne!
Paddy and the team at Beewise are taking bookings from the 02nd of May. Bookings are essential- a family/group will be taken every 10 minutes to allow for social distancing. A 1.5km path meanders through the 5 acre site with information points and fun facts to peruse as you stroll through our natural environment.
Teltown House is now offering a brand-new experience; Tailtiú Coffee is open weekends and bank-holidays from 11am-5pm. Enjoy some homemade treats, tasty teas, coffees and hot chocolate, while walking around the pleasant surroundings of the old gardens, Fairy Trail, Queen Maeve's Road and the medieval ruined church and burial ground.
Oldbridge house gardens are open to the public from 9am to 5.30pm daily. Take-away coffee is also available. Main Entrance gate to the estate closes at 5pm and Exit Gate closes at 7pm.
A New Lady Well walk on the grounds of castle will be opening soon with coffee from Moyee Coffee. Keep an eye on their social media pages.
The Millmount Museum and Martello Tower are situated on high ground in the heart of Drogheda near to where the river Boyne. The Museum will open from the 10th of May.
Derek at Custom Irish Tours is starting a new safari tour on the May Bank Holiday weekend. Showing off some of his favourite parts of the Boyne Valley with a treasure hunt and visits to a local craft food shop and a great local Artisan producer. Contact him today for more details.
Trim Castle is set to open its grounds only (no tours or entry into the castle) from the 26th of April. Another great attraction to visit along the banks of the Boyne.
Old Mellifont Abbey is set to open its gates to the public again on the 26th of April. Guided tours may not be happening just yet but keep an eye on their facebook page for more updates.
