County Louth Golf Club (Baltray)

County Louth Golf Club (also known as 'Baltray') is situated in the historic Boyne Valley region just north of Drogheda.  Perched along the mouth of the Boyne estuary and within a 45-minute drive from Dublin Airport it is also within a 1 hour drive of the city of Dublin.

Our club is steeped in history having been founded in 1892 and has attained a reputation for producing great golfers over the years, both men and women. In 1938 Golf Architects, Tom Simpson and Molly Gourlay redesigned the course. The championship course features natural unspoilt links with towering sandhills, testing rough and a variety of great holes that demands accurate hitting and strategic thinking.

Currently ranked #8 by Golf Digest the championship links is a par 72 measuring 7,031 yards from the back tees and is known for providing one of the purest and fairest tests of links golf in the world. In 2004 and 2009 County Louth Golf Club hosted the European Tour's Irish Open.  In 2009 the club was etched into Irish golfing history when it famously became the venue where 2019 Open Champion Shane Lowry won the Irish Open as an amateur.

The village of Baltray is renowned for its golf course but can also be enjoyed for its exhilarating air and panoramic views of the Cooley and Mourne mountains to the north and its six-mile-long beach over the course sand dunes.

Over the years our club restaurant has become highly regarded for its famous local dishes especially the fresh seafood which is sourced locally from the fishing trawlers in nearby Clogherhead.  Also, we are one of the unique golf clubs in Ireland to provide accommodation within the clubhouse.
