The Poppy Garden

The Poppy Garden is a beautiful cottage garden, full of quirky features and whimsical touches. The three dogs will welcome you in, and beg for petting all the way round. A maze of paths will take you round the gorgeous planting, to the fairytale house with a patio full of colourful pots and covered with flowering climbers. Keep going out the back, and from the raised back patio you will have stunning views of the Loughcrew Hills. Keep exploring the beds and borders, vegetable plot, orchard and locker garden.

The Poppy Garden is the work of stay-at-home mammy Ealma Purcell, who became obsessed with gardening, and over the past sixteen years has built up a vast planting of different annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees. A love of old “junk” items adds to the interest, with lots of old salvaged items and unusual uses of different materials used throughout.

A stunning garden in Springtime when the tulips are in full bloom, through the fullness of summer, and the amazing autumn colour, The Poppy Garden will mesmerise any garden lover! Make time to enjoy a tea or coffee and cake on the back patio, and you can't leave without buying a lovely pot or plant for your own garden!
