Culture Night, celebrated annually on the third Friday in September, invites locals and visitors alike to explore the rich cultural heritage of the Boyne Valley. From Drogheda to Trim and from Newgrange to Slane, the entire region bursts into life with a myriad of events that showcase its unique history, art, music, and traditions. Here are some great events to look forward to this Culture night, 22nd of September, in the Boyne Valley.
Droichead Arts Centre
Culture Night 2023 at Droichead Arts Centre in Drogheda features an evening with music, song and stories. Come along to any of the many events, all are FREE, but we do suggest booking in advance. Events include, Making Waves, Connect Women Together Group at 4.30pm, International Song Group at 7:00pm, SJ MCArdle and Roisín Ward Morrow at 8.30pm & 9.30pm. Find out more on our website here.
Boyne Trad Fest
The new Boyne Trad Fest presents a Culture Night performance of the best in contemporary trad within Highlanes Gallery. Set within Niamh McGuinne’s major solo exhibition, Carapace, Highlanes Gallery will welcome Boyne Tradfest’s Traditional Irish Music Recital with Fergus Mc Gorman (Flute), Ruairí Mc Gorman (Fiddle & Greek Bouzouki) & Patrick O’Loughlin (Button Accordion). Natures Way at Toragh Gallery 2
Kells Courthouse and Cultural Tourism Hub will host ‘Nature’s Way’ An Exhibition of Work By Meath Arts Group this Culture night. The exhibition will run from 6.30 to 8pm and entry is free with no booking required.
Solstice Arts Centre
Solstice Arts Centre warmly invites you to celebrate Culture Night at Solstice! Our programme for the day is filled with visual arts, music, and dance. All events are free although booking is required due to limited availability. Event’s include “Moving Words”, Quiet music ensemble, and Carol O’Connor- Where I Walk. Samhain Festival of Food and Culture Launch 2023
Make your way to the Red Chapel in Trim for the launch of this years Samhain Festival. Enjoy tales, tunes and tipples to launch the 2023 Programme for Samhain Festival of Food & Culture. November 2-5th, Kells. Meet an 8th generation Bean Feasa (wise woman) and enjoy a local drink and bite while listening to the story of how some of our more iconic Irish dishes came to be.
Irish National Foresters Band
Outside Supermacs, Kennedy Road, Navan, Co. Meath, C15 P7WR - The INF band will be holding an outdoor concert on Culture Night to create a buzz around the town. They will perform a variety of music ranging from theme tunes, band marches, 90s pop and modern-day music.
Concert in the Park
Enjoy a free, open-air concert in Dunshaughlin park to celebrate Culture night and the start of Dunshaughlin Harvest Festival on the 22nd of September. The concert will suit everyone, young and old, with ample room for people to bring deck chairs and picnic blankets.
