Tourism Ireland invited the staff of a leading tour operator and travel agency from Finland, Kon-Tiki Tours, to visit Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre and Meath last week.
The aim of their visit was to showcase this part of Ireland to Kon-Tiki staff members, so that when they return home they will be even more enthusiastic about Ireland and better equipped to advise their clients about holidays here.
Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s manager for the Nordic Region, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite the Kon-Tiki Tours team to come and visit Meath and discover some of our newest visitor experience, Ireland’s Ancient East. There really is no substitute for being able to experience what Ireland has to offer at first-hand; our aim is that when they return home, the Kon-Tiki Tours team will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Meath and Ireland.
“The Nordic Region is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and the most recent CSO figures show growth of +5% for January to June, an extra 5,100 visitors compared with the same six-month period in 2014. Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotions in the Nordic Region throughout 2015, to ensure that this growth continues.”
