Steam Threshing Museum & Parkland
The Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival came into existence in 1976. It takes place in the picturesque village of Moynalty in the North Meath hinterland. In the beginning the event was held at the local G.A.A grounds in Bellair. Then we moved to our now permanent premises on the banks of the Borora River.
It was in the year 2000 Moynalty Steam Threshing were in a position to purchase the then greenfield site to which we are now based. The necessity of providing space for our vast collection of artefacts and memorabilia was our 1st priority, we then incorporated office space, meeting room and other welfare facilities were also provided.

The Parkland and Borora Walk
We have onsite parking to cater for 50 vehicles which borders along our tarmacadamed walkway, the parkway is illuminated to cater for night and winter conditions.
The walkway around the periphery is 800 meters long which incorporates a section of walkway alongside the Borora river which flows gently along. There is much to enjoy within this tranquil setting including lots of natural Flora and Fauna which has many attractions incorporated such as our manmade duck pond, insect hotels, a small oak plantation, a replica hedge school, a child friendly fairy fort, exercise machines and lots of open green space for children to play.
During the Spring & Summer months picnic tables and rest facilities are placed at suitable locations throughout the parkland.
As the lines of W.H Davis poem reminds us “What is life if full of care, we have not time to stand and stare”. I feel sure you will leave our park refreshed and invigorated.
Apart from our Annual Steam Threshing Festival on 2nd Sunday August each year, we host auto Jumble events, Vintage Car displays, outdoor seasonal Craft & Food Fairs, Car Boot Sales, Easter Egg hunts, Christmas Craft & Food Fair, Santa Clause Experience, Outdoor Bingo. Treasure Hunts.
We welcome any groups who would like to visit and use our facilities, call the office or contact us by email and we will endeavour to make your outing a memorable one.
Looking forward to meeting many friends in the future!
