Here in the Boyne Valley, through Meath and south Louth, St Patrick's Day is special to us. It was right here, on the Hill of Slane where St Patrick lit the pascal fire- bringing Christianity to Ireland. A well-preserved tower is to be found at the Hill of Slane among the ruins of a Franciscan Monastery, dating from 1512, itself built on site of a monastery founded by St. Erc, a follower of St. Patrick. Why not plan a visit to the Boyne Valley this St Patrick's Day weekend. Visit the Hill of Slane as well as other heritage sites nearby, book one of the great special offers with our accommodation providers and take in one of the St Patrick's Day Parades. Here is a full list of parades to help you plan!
