Farm to Table: Apple Growing and Beekeeping in Action

Boyne Grove Fruit Farm is situated on the banks of the Boyne, just south of the medieval town of Drogheda. Straddling the counties of Meath and Louth, it is home to over 80 acres of apple trees. Boyne Grove Fruit Farm's orchard operations are based around a minimum of interference with nature's way.Boyne Grove Fruit Farm is home to the apples that are harvested to produce Dan Kelly's Cider (containing no sulphites, cultured yeasts, artificial colours or sweeteners - Dan Kelly’s Cider is one of only a few cider producers in Ireland who grow their own fruit), Stameen Farm Apple Juice (made from 100% natural pressed apple juice) and Apple Cider Vinegar.

Boyne Grove Fruit Farm also provides a wonderful habitat for all sorts of wild animals and flowers to thrive, including bees kept at the farm which produce Drogheda Honey.Drogheda Honey is produced by native Irish honey bees in the Boyne Valley, on the north and south of the River Boyne, and in the Cooley Mountains. Drogheda Honey are members of the native Irish honey bee society, where they actively promote and protect their native honey bee, through education and advocate against the importation of non-native honey bee species.Join The Centre of Food Culture, Boyne Valley at Boyne Grove Fruit Farm for a masterclass session highlighting two elements of Irish cultural heritage - apple growing and production and bee keeping and honey production and how they work together at Boyne Grove Fruit Farm, with tastings of the apple juice, cider and honey produced at Boyne Grove Fruit Farm, and plenty of opportunity for questions and answers.
