The summer months are flying by but there is still plenty of time to enjoy a day or evening out in the Boyne Valley. From music concerts to race days and everything in between. Solstice Arts Centre

The Solstice Arts Centre in Navan has a fantastic list of events happening this August. Choose from movie screenings, heritage week events and a summer cabaret. Find out more here. 


The Cottage Market Drogheda
The monthly Cottage Market Drogheda takes place on the 5th of August in Scotch Hall shopping centre in the town from 10am to 5pm. Enjoy over 40 local Food and Craft stalls. Find out more here.


Droichead Arts Centre

Mural tours of Drogheda Urban Art trail continue in the month of August on every Saturday. Slow sessions will also continue on the 19th of August. Find out more here.  


Navan Racecourse
Quality flat racing with some of Irelands’ best horses, jockeys, and trainers while the social racegoer can enjoy great hospitality in the summer sunshine. All happening on the 31st of August at Navan Racecourse. Find out more here. 


Emily McCormack Artist

Emily McCormack Artist
Emily will host her painting on Saturday the 19th of August. These are oil painting workshops for beginners and happen between 10am and 1pm. Find out more here.


Bellewstown Races
Make your way to Bellewstown on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th of August for their summer racing evenings. Find out more here. 


Blackfriary Archaeology

Blackfriary Archaeology Field School
The fieldwork season at Blackfriary runs from the beginning of May to the end of August. Visitors are welcome to the site every Wednesday afternoon 2.30pm -4.30pm in August for a free tour of the archaeological site and a chat with the archaeologists. Find out more here.


August Adventure at Causey Farm
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 pm in August, Causey Farm will open its gates to families for a marvellous Summer Adventure. Children and parents will also get to take part in Wellie Throwing, A Bodhrán Workshop, Giant Dominoes, Traditional Sugán Rope Making as well as plenty more activities. Find out more here.


Boyne Boats

Boyne Boats
Boyne Boats Lands at Dowth Neolithic Experience takes place on the 4th and the 18th of August. Paddle a hand built traditional Irish currach upstream on the Boyne River, step off your vessel onto the sacred Lands at Dowth and continue the journey by foot through woodland, farmland, and archaeological marvels exclusive to this experience. Open Day at Beewise Nature Trail
Always a popular day out in the Boyne Valley is a visit to Beewise Nature trail in Kilmessan. Open days are being held on the 6th and the 20th of August. See the Honeybees up close in the working observation hive, explore their nature trail and learn all about how honey is made! Find out more here.

 
Boyne Valley International Film Festival

Boyne Valley International Film Festival
The Boyne Valley International Film Festival will feature an extended Festival over three days featuring screenings, events and a range of Awards to help support filmmakers from the 11th to the 13th of August. Find the full list of events and more information here. 


Heritage Week
This year, Heritage week runs from the 12th to the 20th of August and there is a great selection of events happening around County Meath and County Louth. Events include tours of St Erc's Hermitage in the grounds of Slane Castle,  and a talk on the Farrell Moynalty Estate papers

 


Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival

Moynalty Steam Threshing
One of the biggest events of the year is the Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival. Happening this year on the 13th of August, you can enjoy displays of vanishing work practices and food production as well as craft making and vintage displays. Find out more here.


Yoga and Dip at Laytown Beach
Enjoy a relaxing evening of yoga and an invigorating dip in the sea at Laytown Beach on the 15th of August. Held by Meath Local Sports Partnership, this is a perfect evening at the beach! Find out more here.


Mums and Girls Canoeing on the Royal Canal

Mums and Girls Canoeing
Get on the water on the 17th of August with Meath Local Sports Partnership and Ribbontail Paddlers Club. Develop your skills and experience on the water at Longwood Harbour on the Royal Canal Greenway. Find out more here.   


Another Love Story
Another Love Story is a bespoke festival weekender of music, art, conversation, food and frolics nestled amongst the graceful charm of an 18th Century home – Killyon Manor. Happening from the 18th to the 20th of August, this is a great excuse to enjoy the last of the long summer evenings. Find out more here.


Boyne Valley Tasting Event

Station House Hotel
Enjoy the amazing local produce that is available to us here in the Boyne Valley region at the Signal Restaurant in the Station House Hotel in Kilmessan on the 18th of August. The evening begins at 6.30pm with a pre-dinner cocktail or glass of Prosecco Frizzante. That’s followed by seven courses carefully curated and prepared by their head chef. Find out more here. 


Plight of the Bumble Bee
A special evening awaits on the 26th of August at Beewise Nature trail. Enjoy a talk from Beekeeper Paddy Gorman, refreshments, and a movie on Bee’s, followed by music from Brenda Castles, Erin Hennessy and Tony Byrne. Find out more here.
