As summer ushers in longer days and warmer weather, June becomes a particularly vibrant month for the Boyne Valley in Meath and South County Louth.
From walking events to music festivals, the Boyne Valley offers a variety of events that cater to both locals and tourists alike.
Here’s a look at some of the highlights.
Wilkinstown Market
Pair a walk or a cycle on the Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway with a visit to the Wilkinstown Community Market on the first Saturday of every month. The market happens on the 1st of June from 12-3pm. Find out more here.
The Cottage Market Drogheda
Another great market not to miss is the monthly Cottage Market in Drogheda. Happening on the first Saturday of every month, the market takes place on the Ground Floor Scotch Hall Shopping Centre from 10am to 5pm on the 1st of June. Find out more here.
Summer Series at Fairyhouse Racecourse
With top class flat racing, package and tickets to suit all package sizes and pockets, Fairyhouse is the place to be to kick start your weekend - Thursday is the new Friday in June! Blue Jean Country Queen Festival
Every June Bank Holiday weekend he town of Athboy, Co. Meath plays host to a feast of live music, family friendly entertainment and, of course, the crowning of the Blue Jean Country Queen. This is a weekend not to be missed with lots of music, dancing and family friendly events. Find out more here.

The Newgrange Hotel plays host to Bingo Loco this June 22nd. Enjoy this 3-hour-long interactive stage show complete with dance-offs, rave rounds, lip sync battles, throwback anthems, confetti showers, and prizes ranging from international holidays to cars, air fryers, lawnmowers, and so much more.
Swift Cultural Centre
Pilgrim street take to the stage at Swift Cultural Centre on Saturday June 15th. Strongly influenced by Bluegrass, Old Time Country, and Folk music, fused with traditional folk songs from this side of the Atlantic, Pilgrim St bring a warm and lively atmosphere to their music and has garnered a glowing word-of-mouth endorsement from venues around the country with their powerhouse live performances. Trim Hay Making Festival
Sunday the 16th of June marks the Annual Haymaking Festival in Trim, Co Meath. As ever it promises to be a fantastic family day out and takes place at the Porchfield. Irish Legends at Seapoint Golf Links
Seapoint Golf Links will once again welcome the game’s greatest players as the third largest event on the Legends Tour returns to Termonfeckin, from 19th – 22nd June 2024. The Legends Tour is the official tour for players over 50. Part of the PGA European Tour alongside the DP World Tour and European Challenge Tour, it offers the chance for amateurs and celebrities to play alongside the professionals in a live tournament. Boyne Mid-Summer Festival
Drogheda’s festival calendar is filling up with the addition of the new Boyne Midsummer Festival taking place from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd June. This festival will have something for everyone to enjoy across its day-to-night programme!
Afternoons will be filled with family friendly entertainment, including fairground rides, a petting zoo, and more. The Friday evening will see ‘The Stowaway Sessions’ take place on a dedicated stage at Drogheda Port to kick off the festival. A Mid Summer Walk for the Homeless
Join Decoy Country Cottages on their annual walk from The Hill of Tara to Slane in aid of Dublin Simon Community. Enjoy a walk in the beautiful Boyne Valley Countryside passing alongside the River Boyne also. Find out more here.
Hinterland Festival
The 2024 Hinterland Festival takes place in Kells, Co. Meath from the 27th to the 30th of June. Hinterland is an annual multi-disciplinary arts festival based in the spiritual home of the Book of Kells. The 2024 festival promises an illuminating journey of debate, discussion, reflection, and imagination – on the world as it is, and how it might be.
International Harp Festival
This year's festival takes place at An Grianán, Termonfeckin, Co. Louth from Sunday 30th June to Friday 5th July.
An Chúirt Chruitireachta — The International Festival for Irish Harp, ranks among the top international festivals for Irish harp, and warmly welcome harpers of every standard from all over the world. Top quality workshops, classes, concerts and sessions are guaranteed.
