Heritage Sites

Kells Town and Monastic Site
The best way to see Kells and its oldest sites is by taking the Kells Historic trail. This walking trail starts at the Kells Courthouse and stops 1-11 take approximately 1 hour to complete. The additional stops are only a short distance by car. Visit Kells Courthouse, the Market Cross, St Johns Cemetery and more.
The Spire of Lloyd
Known as Irelands only inland lighthouse. The Spire is said to have been used to view horse racing and the hunt in the 19th century. You can also visit the park next to the tower on your trip!
Causey Farm
The most fun you will have on the farm ever! From brown bread making, to dancing, bog hopping and everything in between. Causey Farm is situated just outside Kells and offers seasonal farm visits and group bookings.
Girley Bog Eco Walk
This 5.6 km waymarked National Loop is situated a short drive from Kells. It covers varying landscape of forest and bogland. The terrain is flat and uneven and walking boots are recommended. Pass through the tranquil Coillte forest, where there is a coniferous forestry plantation located on high bog. Then experience the boardwalk on that exists to protect the bog. Listen out for the cukoo and other wildlife.
