After a super month in March, we are all geared up for another busy month in April here in County Meath and South County Louth. Here are our top events happening in the Boyne Valley this April.
Solstice Arts Centre
Situated in Navan, the Solstice Arts Centre always has a great line up of entertainment. In April you can look forward to Tonic by Fionn Foley on the 1st, Explorations by Act Out Youth Theatre on the 13th, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat on the 19th, Massenet Werther from the Irish National Opera on the 25th, Perlee in the Round on the 27th, Karan Casey with Niamh Dunne & Seán Óg Graham on the 28th, and Navan School of Ballet favourites on the 29th and 30th.
The Cottage Market Drogheda
This month, the Cottage Market Drogheda will take place on the 1st of April in The Scotch Hall Shopping Centre from 10am to 5pm. Visit them for a great display of local food and crafts.
Drogheda Classical Music
This year’s Drogheda Classical music series will close on Friday 21st of April with a performance by the Irish Chamber Orchestra under pianist and director, Kristian Bezuidenhout. Following their sold-out performance with Sheku Kanneh-Mason in 2019, they look forward to the orchestra’s return with this programme of contrasting Mozart Piano Concertos to ensure a dazzling evening of music-making.
Headfort Arms Hotel
Tickets are now on sale for Rhythm and Sticks on the 22nd of April and Take it to the Limit on the 23rd of April. The Headfort Arms always promises a great night out.
Droichead Arts Centre
Visit Droichead Arts Centre for a host of events this April. The line up includes their Spring Theatre Club, Slow Sessions on the 8th and 24th, Silver Screen on the 25th and more. Log onto their website to book your tickets.
City North Hotel
City North Hotel have the ultimate tribute to doo-wop legends The Drifters, The American Drifters performing on Easter Saturday, 8th April. Tickets are available from their website.
Navan Racecourse
Look forward to some top-class action on the flat on April 22nd when Navan Racecourse will host the Vintage Crop Stakes (Group 3). Tickets are available to purchase now on their website.
Wilde Dining at Loughcrew Estate
Loughcrew Estate and Gardens are full of history, beauty, fantasy, and atmosphere making the visit a magical experience. Experience and evening with the Wilde Dining team on the 14th of April. You will be taken to the gardens for a champagne reception before being escorted to the dining area where the Wilde Dining chef and team will be preparing a feast over fire with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
Art Classes with Emily McCormack
This April why not take time to learn a new skill. Emily McCormack is an artist based just outside Kilcock, who runs classes at her studio as well as offering one-to-one consultations by appointment. Her class schedule from March to July is available here.
Easter at Red Mountain Open Farm
Red Mountain Open Farm will be the place to be this Easter with the kids! They will be open from Saturday 1st of April to Sunday 16th of April daily from 10:30am to 5pm including Bank Holiday Monday. Their Easter Treasure Hunt will also run on the 8th,9th and 10th of April.
Bellewtown Racecourse
The first Race meeting of the year happens at Bellewstown on the 1st of April. This is always a great day out. Situated just off the M1.
GoFishing Ireland
A great Easter activity to partake in this year in the Boyne Valley. Learn how to fish with Chris at GoFishing Ireland. You’ll be accompanied by an experienced angling expert as you explore the region’s waterways in pursuit of trophy fish.
Easter at Newgrange Farm
Make the most of the Easter Holidays at plan a trip to Newgrange Farm to see all the animals. This year, from 10.45am to 12.45pm and from 2.45pm to 4.45pm daily they will be running four competitions situated around the Farm – Hook A Duck, Bunny Throw, Lollipop Game and a Colouring Competition. All children will receive something small for taking part in each competition with different prizes for winners.
Fairyhouse Easter Racing Festival
One of the best racing dates in the Irish calendar will happen from the 8th to the 10th of April. Easter Monday features the Boyle Sports Irish Grand National, the richest chase in the Irish calendar and one of the most anticipated dates of the Irish racing calendar. Book your tickets today.
Navan Adventure Centre
The Easter Egg & Play Family Fun Event at Navan Adventure Centre is happening from the 8th to the 10th of April this year. Enjoy their Easter Egg Hunt, Inflatable Obstacle Courses & Slides (Child must be 1 meter tall or more), Football Golf, the Adventure Obstacle Course and more. Book your tickets online now.
Easter Egg Hunt at Beewise
Get back to nature- and find some chocolate at the Beewise Easter Egg hunt this year. Hidden around their 5-acre site will be lots of chocolate treats for you to find. They will have an extra bonus of some hidden dinosaur eggs (maximum one per family allowed), one of which will contain a Golden ticket to win a Hamper.
The American Drifters at the Ardboyne Hotel
