The newly opened Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway has proved a hit with visitors from all over the Country. Irelands newest Greenway traverses through County Meath and County Cavan and follows the old line of the Navan to Kingscourt Railway. The railway line opened in 1872 and was largely operated by the Midland Great Western. It ceased operation in 1947.
Today, you can walk or cycle the continuous 30km stretch from Navan to Kingscourt and pass through the villages and towns of Killberry, Wilkinstown, Castletown, Nobber, and Kilmainhamwood. Appreciate the great open spaces of the Meath and Cavan Countryside, admire the old railway station platforms, spend a while at Park Beo greenway Services Hub, enjoy a picnic at Whitewood Lake and so much more. There is too much to do in a day so why not spend the night and experience even more of the Boyne Valley. Here are our top places to Greenway and Stay in the Boyne Valley.
