Red Mountain Open Farm

Located just five minutes from the Newgrange monument, the open farm boasts the most extensive indoor facilities of all open farms in Ireland

It runs events for Easter and Halloween and is open six days a week during the summer. 

During the months of May and June the farm runs school tours which offer a fun learning experience.

Enfield Fairy Trail is located at the Harbour Area of the Royal Canal Leisure Park in Enfield.  Take a stroll through this fully accessible, enchanting little Fairy Trail full of fairy doors, houses, ladybirds and even a couple of thrones!  Discover Fiadh the Forest Fairy, Flash the Footballer Fairy and many more.  As well as trying to find all the fairy doors in the Trail, you can also visit Pooh Corner and our bird box area, and make sure you don't leave without finding out your very own Fairy Name!

Sonairte – the National Ecology Centre Visitor Eco Centre and Gardens

Sonairte [pronounced SON-ART-A] is an interactive visitor centre promoting ecological awareness and sustainable living. The name Sonairte is derived from a middle Irish word meaning “positive strength”. It is situated in a farm complex of noteworthy historical interest on the banks of the River Nanny near Laytown (Co. Meath).

Boyne Blueway Trim

Located in and flowing through the picturesque heritage town of Trim, the Boyne Blueway Trim is a beautiful stretch of the River Boyne which flows from Trim to Bective Mill. With a length of 8kms it can be paddled in 2.5 to 3 hours and is suitable for dabblers & those with a little bit more paddling ability. This is phase one of the Boyne Blueway Trim development.

Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway

This project (currently under development) will be a 30km walkers' and cyclists' paradise along the route of the old railway line from Navan in Co. Meath to Kingscourt in Co. Cavan.

The Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway will begin in Navan and pass close to the villages of Kilberry, Wilkinstown, Castletown Kilpatrick, Nobber and Kilmainhamwood before ending in Kingscourt.

Beewise Nature Trail

The Bee Wise Nature Trail comprises of five acres of young woodland planted with a variety of bee loving trees, e.g. Sweet Chestnut, Rowan, Maple, Sycamore, White Beam, Arbutus (Strawberry Tree) and Oak. There is a large variety of flowering &fruiting hedgerows planted to encourage a  diversity of wildlife interspersed with areas of wild flowers to attract bees, butterflies and insects.  A 1.5km path meanders through the 5 acre site with information points and fun facts to peruse as you stroll through our natural environment.

Blackfriary Community Heritage Archaeology Project

The excavations at the site of the award-winning Blackfriary Community Heritage and Archaeology Project (BCHAP) in the town of Trim, County Meath, Ireland are run by the Blackfriary Archaeology Field School. Their goal is to deliver a wonderful experience to all interested students, visitors, lifelong learners and enthusiasts at the Blackfriary. Already, so many have started their field careers or realised their dream of taking part in an excavation at this medieval friary in the heritage capital of Ireland.
