As part of the Spirits of Meath Festival for 2022, Discover Boyne Valley is delighted to present Mid-Term Myths at Kells Courthouse Tourism and Cultural Hub.

This story-telling event is aimed at primary school children aged 5-10 who will be regaled with legends and stories of the Boyne Valley by the fantastic Candlelit Tales. 

The event is free but booking is essential due to limited spaces. Children should bring a cushion or blanket to sit on. Note that food and drink items are not permitted on the premises during the performance.

LÚ FESTIVAL OF LIGHT, A SPECTACULAR URBAN ANIMATION SHOW RUNNING FROM

FRIDAY 25th to MONDAY 28th and THURSDAY 31st of OCTOBER to SUNDAY 3rd of  NOVEMBER 2024

Causey Farm comes alive with a festive atmosphere – as they celebrate Christmas with all the traditional charm and magic you’d expect.

There’s a chill in the air. The farm animals are in for the winter and the baby lambs will soon be born. Laughter and “Wows” can be heard across the old farmyard – the time has come to celebrate and they do it in style at Causey Farm.

All the sheds have different Christmas-themed events and everyone moves from place to place to sample each new experience.

Take a stroll down to the elf village and pop into the elf houses to create amazing decorations and play games!  Grotto meet and greet with Santa including gift for every child. (The Elf village is under cover)

Dates: December 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 22nd and 23rd 
Times: 10am to 8pm in 1 hour time slots

Autumn Equinox is just around the corner and where better to celebrate this magical time of year then Loughcrew.

Autumn Equinox officially falls on the morning of the 23rd September this year.

We will be running a number of events between the 23rd - 25th which are outlined below.

Please note some events need to be booked, details of how to do so is included.

Friday 23rd September

The autumnal equinox is on September 23rd. For us in the Northern Hemisphere, autumn arrives while south of the equator, spring begins. 5000 years ago, the builders of the monument known as Cairn T at Loughcrew aligned their tomb to sunrise at the equinoxes.

The Office of Public Works will have staff on site for dawn from 7.00am on September 22nd, 23rd and 24th (Thursday, Friday and Saturday).

Cairn T remains closed but all are welcome to visit the Cairns to celebrate the beginning of Autumn.
